I think this was a really underrated sit-com in the early 2000s.

It looks like someone in England has commissioned a series based on the show called Meet The Doyles. If it is anything like the English version of That 70s Show it will flop.

Same premise as the American version. Irish second generation family. They first child is born as teenagers, who is now a teenager while they have 2 other young boys.

I wonder if the third child will disappear for no reason like in the american version.

I loved Grounded for Life, especially the first 2 seasons. Near the end it got a bit dodgy, the grandad and youngest kid just disappeared without explantion and they were funny characters.

It was always underrated but I really enjoyed it. The uncle was the funniest character. And the mother was fit! :D

Sorry for being slightly off topic but there was an English version of 'That 70's Show?' That sounds horrendous.

Yeah ITV did an English version. I brought it up as That 70s Show and Ground For Life are both produced by Carsey-Werner-Mandabach Productions.

It was really bad since they didn't have the same history and yet they wanted to just use the same scripts. For example it didn't work when The President comes to visit and they decided to replace him with Prince Charles rather than the Prime Minister

It was underrated in the US even though it got 5 season.

Starting out on FOX and then Moving to The WB. Cancelled by Fox after 2 eps of Season 3, only to be picked up by The WB for 3 more seasons.

Just watched the first 3 eps there after seeing this thread. Hilarious stuff. Forgot how good it actually was. They all seem to be on youtube. I'd recommend people to give them a look. Only about 25mins an episode.

    Always liked it.
    All decent comic actors.
    Uncle Eddie was in goodfellas.

    FYP! :D

Ah no, Kevin Corrigan's a great actor.. but he's been in every TV series recently from Fringe to Community to Damages. Also had an excellent guest-role in 'Freaks & Geeks'.

Never really liked this show tbh.. although I did think Bret Harrison stole most scenes as it went on.

I'm sure Elmo won't like this, but some of the humour / dialogue reminded me of a Chuck Lorre effort. Flashes of wit among a lot of lazy writing.

Funny that this thread should pop up, as I started rewatching this series last week. Great show.

Kevin Corrigan and Donal Logue are two of my favourite actors because of this show.

Really liked this when it was on. "Eddie" was great in it.

Yeah! I am not saying it is the best comedy ever but it is certainly way above anything Chuck Lorrie is throwing out, it also helps that the series had a good cast over all, which sometimes makes a show and also it is an enjoyable easy going show which again helps such a series. The use of flashbacks being fairly originally in a sit-com. And it is after all a Family comedy, unlike hallious double entranta that pepper every ****ing Chuck Lorre show.

Chuck Lorrie is just copying the same shows but putting in unlikeable actors and characters into the badly written stereotypical roles. Even as an Irish Catholic Family the Doyle's take the piss with out being overly stereotypical (okay they bought a pub!).

Chuck Lorrie V Casey Warner (I think we know who wins).

    Agreed!

But on that logic, I do think the fairly strong cast (well, Jim Parsons mainly) of 'The Big Bang Theory' makes it far superior to other Chuck Lorre efforts such as 'Two And A Half Men' and 'Mike & Molly'.

One actor doesn't make an Ensemble. As the for characters of TBBT are far too typical. Take Johnny Galecki who played David in Roseanne, as far as I was concerned he was playing a nerd/geek in that Carsey-Warner show with out the need for the typical SBTB hunched shoulders, squeaky voice and glasses.

However Roseanne's humour was far drier and caustic then either TBBT or GFL.

SFTOUOA - Sorry for the over use of acronyms.
