    Aretha Franklin is currently battling cancer, it has been reported.
    A relative of the singer told Fox 2 News in Detroit that Franklin has the disease and that her family is very concerned about her health.
    They added that Franklin is doing "okay" and ask that fans keep the star in their prayers and thoughts.
    It is thought that she has incurable pancreatic cancer, but her family have yet to confirm this.
    Franklin underwent surgery last Thursday, although did not disclose then what she was suffering from.

    I hope she can make a recovery - she is one of the greatest female singers ever

    She has been inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame and in 2005 was also awarded the Presidential Medal Of Freedom, America's highest civilian honour.

    Among her biggest hits were also (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman and what is generally regarded as the definitive version of Burt Bacharach's Say A Little Prayer.

    Franklin also sang at the inauguration of Barack Obama in Washington in January 2009. Her publicists did not return a request for comment.
