Hi, (first time poster, so please excuse if in wrong forum)

I have to collect somebody from Cork Airport at 8 am next Tuesday morning.

I would like advice from anybody who has used the new motorway on the best time to leave Dublin (Dun Laoghaire area).

    Thanks,
    Jack

3 hrs should be fine at that time of the morning. They mightn't be out waiting for you untill 8.30 anyway.

When I last went down with the 20km Abbeyleix/Durrow section still not open, it took almost exactly 3 hours. Should be a little quicker now but I'd be giving yourself the xtra time to allow for traffic, etc.

Be leaving Dún Laoghaire around 5am.

Based upon my cousins conclusion, who travels there often, if you went your fastest you could do it in 2 hours. I reckon 3 hours should be enough.

Before from Cork, the roads were bad up to Portlaoise then a breeze up the Dublin road. But with the Fermoy bypass open things should be a lot quicker.

I reckon you're right to give 3 hours.
The person who tells you 2 hours is a bul****ter tbh.

About 160 miles in 2 hours. 80mph the whole way, with no slowing down for anything on ramps, off ramps, traffic lights, lane hoggers etc.

Even before there was motorway most of the way down, I have friends who would tell me they could do it in 2 hours.
Sorts the those who exaggerate from the rest of them doesnt it :)
