Syfy has confirmed that superhero project Three Inches is still in development.

The cable network originally ordered a pilot episode in March, with former Torchwood stars James Marsters and Naoko Mori later joining the cast.

Syfy executive Mark Stern confirmed to Deadline that the recent commission of drama pilot Alphas will not affect the production of Three Inches.

"Three Inches is a terrific project that we continue to be interested in," he said. "We are working with the producers and production company to see if there's a way to bring [that show] to our air as well."

Three Inches focuses on a man who gains the ability to move objects with his mind, but only by three inches. The original pilot episode was scripted by Twin Peaks writer Harley Peyton and produced by Bob Cooper.

In the comments section --> http://www.deadline.com/2010/12/syfy-picks-up-alphas-pilot-to-series/#more-88978 -- someone suggests they've seen Three Inches: 3 Inches was Awful. Script was average, pilot was not good. Alphas is awesome. Script is great, pilot is even better.

That has to be one of the stupidest premises for a TV series that I have ever seen. Guy can move things with mind, but only three inches? Ha. Possibly the lamest super power ever. "Come closer, I can't hit you if you're far away"

^ but if it had beeen done right, this could have been comic genius!....a Mystery Men type show full of misfits and costumed supernerds, like Kick Ass etc.

The premise was stupid, but therein lies the brilliance if it had the script to back it up.

Syfy president Mark Stern has revealed that sci-fi drama Three Inches is still under consideration for a series pickup.

The project, which was originally dropped by the network in favour of drama series Alphas, will focus on Walter Spackman, an underachiever who is struck by lightning and develops the ability to move objects with his mind, but only by three inches.

Stern told Assignment X: "We're looking at another way to get Three Inches going. We love it, so we're trying to figure out a way to do both [that and Alphas] right now."

He also revealed that the cast of the original Three Inches pilot, which included Buffy actor James Marsters and Torchwood's Naoko Mori, will likely return for the revamped series.

"That would be the idea," he confirmed.

Three Inches was originally produced as a one-hour project, but is currently being retooled as a half-hour, single-camera comedy.

Source: DigitalSpy.......i personally hope this shows comes into being, as i've said if done right it could be good comedy/superhero stuff.

Not really, it just needs to be the right object. Moving part of a machine by 3" could destroy it. Moving a cerebral artery by 3" will kill someone instantly. Etc.

It's out!! - with ZERO promotion, buzz, promos.....nothing!
I had heard ZERO about this until today, but SyFy aired a movie length pilot last night.

Gonna watch it a bit later a report back. TWOP has a thread:

Looks like a burn-off, according to TWOP. No chance of ever going to series.
General consensus is that it's better than Alphas, so I'll take a look. :)

Yup....100% burn-off, the fact no one, not critics or anyone knew about it screams volumes, it was a last minute schedule change....it wasn't even noted by TVline that it was being aired until someone pointed it out!

I just finished watching it, i was expecting a quirky/funny/offbeat take on the superhero genre a la Mystery Men, what i got was an inferior and less polished version of Alphas.

I dispute the opinions of the guys at TWOP, imo i thought/think Alphas was/is much better. It's interesting though JUST how similiar both shows are!

The first 12 mins were rather slow and while the side story of Walter and his very sweet "i love you" scene with Alona Tal it took away much needed pace imo.

There was more humour then Alphas for sure, i did LOL when Walter walked in wearing his costume, but there were several attempts at humour that fell flat imo.

The entire setup is Alphas, powers on a budget....our motley crew of freaks, far less interesting characters then Alphas, but tbf....the same could be said for Alphas.

None of them bar Rosenberg or Gary got fleshed out in the pilot besides setup and what powers they posessed, same here....so further episodes may have altered my opinion in this regard.

The problem is it's SOOOO much like Alphas i can't help but compare every aspect of it, i had 13 eps. of Alphas and just 90 mins here.

Imo i think SyFy made the right decision here to drop it, retooling to a half hour comedy may have worked though, it was a passable 90 mins but the Alphas pilot was much better, it's a much darker show and grittier then 3 Inches.

I see Tosh from Torchwood here, but i learned nothing about the character besides being able to mimic every sound perfectly. The Human Stink.....ah  , Gary is far better.

Hawt Watts a la Aussie bird from Melrose Place can make you sad or happy.....Nina has a bit more range here powers wise, the bug guy....

Walters power turned out to be much more useful then you'd think....James Masters broody son is the muscle a la Hicks....except Hicks has powers and broody is a normal.

Masters vs. Rosenberg.....hmmm, lemme think....come on!, Rosenberg ftw!
There was nothing new or original here, super low budget but again Alphas is the same.

    If i had to choose?....Alphas :)

    ‘Three Inches” averaged a 0.3 rating w/adults 18-49 and 1.02 million viewers.

^ what could you expect?....NO ONE knew about it!!!!!
