    Simple question:

What is the best bus to get from the City Centre of Dublin to Blanchardstown Shopping centre? I'm confused between the 39(a), 38 or 40D.

    Thanks.

Take the 39 or the 39c but the 39c should be faster as it uses the bypass.

Au contraire, the 39A does serve the Centre now.

Thanks a million for the replies!

As it happens, I am actually travelling from UCD, but I assumed I would have to change bus in the city centre. It's very convenient that the 39a goes the whole way there!!

    Thanks again!

Since Network They Wrecked. What with the almost complete annexing of the 39 service and putting more focus into this high-frequency, long route from one end of the county to the other, they decided to put them through the Centre to cater for the demand there.

    I think.

    Thanks for the replies!

There's just something I've noticed from seeing 39A's in and around UCD. Some of them say "Ongar - via Blanchardsown Bypass" whereas others say "Ongar - via N3 Express". Is there a difference between these two (they both have route 39A)? They both go to the Blanchardstown SC, right?

    (Sorry for the silly questions).

From my standpoint, it means the exact same thing. They both take the Blanch Bypass up to the exit for the Blanch Centre, then they come off there, take the little side route into the back of the Centre at the Crowne Plaza and go to the bus stop from there.

Hiya, just thought I'd update this! I got the 39A (from UCD) and it was perfect - right on the doorstep of the shopping centre!

I asked one of my friends who travels this route every day, and he says it makes no difference whether it says "Blanchardstown Bypass", "N3 Bypass", or "N3 Express" - it goes the same way all the time apparently.

    Thanks for the answers!

Just watch out for the destination signs on 39 or 39a buses when travelling back to the city. Although many travel the full distance to Baggot Street or UCD, some are slotted in as extras to cope with demand when necessary and will display "City Centre" only.

You would be surprised at how many people only see the number and expect the bus to go the full distance, only to be mildly angry when the bus turns off its engine at College Street!

Hi. Does anyone know what bus runs to Blanchardstown shopping centre from the city centre. I know one runs from somewhere near O' Connell street but cant remember where or what number.
    Thanks a million.

All routes are changed now out there, but 39/a go directly to centre. You can get the bus from the quays, It's now coming from UCD, so you can pick it up along baggot st., dawson etc and then it heads down Westmoreland Street onto Quays.;)

Apologies if I am dragging up an old thread. I am sure someone can let me know if I need to open a new one instead.....

According to DublinBus.ie the following buses currently go to Blanchardstown Shopping Centre from the city centre:

70/38/38a/38b/38d/39/39a some going from Suffolk St via Stoneybatter and some O’Connell St via North Circular Rd.

But can anyone tell me which if any currently take the quickest time/route? If it makes a difference I would be traveling around 4.30 pm.

39A is by far the quickest, straight up the N3 into the shopping centre.
(Slightly surprised that the website is claiming some of those as going to the shopping centre, for example the 70 would leave you a good 25 minute walk away)

Some of that information is incorrect.

The buses that serve blanchardstown centre from the city centre are the 37, 39 and 39A

The quickest bus to get you there would be the 39A.

The rest of those routes would leave you with a long walk. (Especially the 70 and 38D )

    Thanks folks.

By the way I put in ‘Blanchardstown Centre’ in the timetable drop down box and got that list. There was an option for ‘Blanchardstown Shopping Centre’ but it returned no results so I assumed they meant the same thing?

Walk to the Law Library Society building on Blackhall Place which is about 900 metre walk from the train station and get a 39A (best option) or a 39.
