My mother tried to open an account with TD waterhouse got all the paper worked filled out and sent it off. Then I got more stuff to be signed. I got a ESB bill, signed by bank. Bank statement, signed by bank. Copy of passport signed by bank and driving license signed by bank.

This honestly has been done 3 times. When she rang she was told there some type of mix up that she would have to do it once again which she did and she still hasn't got an account opened yet.

Is there any broker out there that's easy enough to open an account I'm hearing horror stories about Sharewatch but when she wanted to sell her shares they were a good price which has since dropped. She just to open an account and be able to buy/sell shares there an then not sending off the forms and it taking weeks which will also affect the share price.

Same thing hapened to me, I just started freaking out and asking for supervisors and constantly rang them until someone decided to sort it out. I got the impression they are all helpful and nice on the phone, but once the conversation ends it's back to watching videos on youtube.

Did you get it sorted without having to send in more forms?

I'm not joking four times and it was all done right because I done myself for her.

I had to send them twice and all in all it took 6 weeks to open the account!

Very frustrating, I can feel you pain!

Once the account is opened, whatever you do, don't allow your mum invest in bank shares! Just my opinion of course, but she should be looking at commodities, at least as part of her portfolio.

    Best of luck!

you dont need to send in any forms if you are selling less than 15k of shares and close the account afterwards.

Zecco is brilliant, I opened mine 2 months ago and it's brilliant for small trading. Its fast and easy to open (simply scanning and uploading your docs etc., no postal stuff) and its only $5 per trade!
Its a US company, so I dont think you can buy ISE shares, but its still great!

If its just simple buying and selling Id reccommend National Irish Bank, they had me up and running in a week and were completely sound, werent strict on ID or bills either come to think of it, they did ask to see my earnings, payslips and bank statements.

This is absolutely shocking. This stockbroker seemed to be ignorant, irresponsible, lazy ..etc, but you still desperately tried to open an account and send them money. Good luck getting money back.

Is that Zecco one easy enough to transfer funds over too?

I had the very same experience with TD Waterhouse. I sent away everything as requested and have a guard stamp my passport etc.
Then they told me they never received these documents.
I won't be dealing with them again.

It like when you are refused from a nightclub, I can't understand how anyone would beg to give a business money. Just request your documents back and go somewhere else.
