Beginners set for aran knitting

Is there any beginners set to knitting aran or is it too complicated to learn yourself? Would love to try making a blanket or cushion covers?

Could someone recommend a book or what I would need exactly to start?

Im a beginner so you can be as simple as you like when explaining it to me!:)

Made curtains the other month for the first time, now I want to tackle some knitting, think the snow and cabin fever is getting to me!!

Can you already knit?
Aran is a weight of wool as well as a style of knitting.
You have to be able to do all the basic stitches and knowledge of cable knitting is advisable.
Knitting lessons are run in a lot of libraries now and in the various yarn shops. www.ravelry.com is kind of like knitting facebook. If you join it, you can look up all about patterns, wool, local shops and there's forums, etc.

Aran Knitting isn't too difficult, I learned myself using youtube mainly. If you can already knit, it's fairly straight forward.

You will most likely need some Double pointed needles for cables and bobbles.

Aran Yarn is typically 10ply.

I used to knit a long long time ago in school, Im hoping it comes back to me, would love to get into it again especially with it being winter.
