Howdy guys and gals. Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but is there anywhere that a simplified or in layman terms version that the various acts on the Irish Statute can be found, or what the act is basically about.

Am currently job hunting and have been already asked in one interview on my knowledge or if I was aware of particalar acts in relation to the job I was applying for.

Have tried the Irish Statute website but finding it difficult reading.

    Thanks in advance.

A number of books exist that both consolidate (put all in one place), with annotations (notes about what particular sections mean) and commentary (authors view on a particular section or its link with common law). Perhaps if you give even a general indication of the area someone with more knowledge than I can guide you to a decent read.

And don't worry about finding the reading difficult, break the sections and sentences down (as i did when i first had to read them) if necessary on a blank A4. Before you know it you'll be whizzing through 'em all :D

Newer legislation on the www.oireachtas.ie website often has an explanatory memorandum which says more or less what the politicians hoped to put into the act but couldn't get the words right.

Citizens advice is a great resource for that, but like shanebaby said if you could give an indication of the area we could help with pointing you in the right direction :)

Sorry guys, been looking at the Children Act 2001, and if there is anything in relation to family support, also maybe the latest health act, 2005 I think it is.

Would really just be maybe looking at just a few lines on what each one is about or like a synopsis on it, and maybe what individals should expect from each one.
