Could we set up this thread so we can help out the new teachers I know heading away?
    Conditions of work, pay, etc?

Be careful, ask questions before you leave. Make sure you know exactly what deductions will be made from your salary. Realise that you will probably be treated differently and paid less than your local colleagues. I cant speak for the UK, but for Germany, Belgium and Spain. It sounds silly to tell people to be prepared for a different way of working, but it really can be tough! Dont feel like you have to jump ship ASAP and take any job you can get. Do your research and make sure you are ready, Check out the forum on www.tes.co.uk.
