Hey guys, just wondering if anyone could recommend me a decent, fairly good lipstick. For years I have been a devotee of Mac's Ladybug lippy (very red), but I'm a broke student now and really need to find a cheap alternative, esp as I keep losing it and can't afford to keep replacing it!! So can anyone recommend a good, fairly cheap red lipstick? I'd be really, really grateful

Bourgois lipsticks are pretty good, I got a ruby red one in Boots in Stephen's Green a few months ago and I love it, I way prefer it to my Gosh one and the Gosh one was more expensive too :) They don't come off easily and have a nice finish too, and it's a nice red, not like pillarbox red or anything. I can't remember the exact name but I'm pretty sure it was the only really red lipstick they had :)

If you are like me and cant find a lippy that ever seems to suit me, then I have discovered the AVON glazewear range, they seem to suit everyone.
Also, if you have an Avon rep, ask her to get you a range of all the lippies in sample sizes, (about 30c each) to try one til you find one that suits.

Also, ESSCENCE, in Shaws stores do a range of VERY cheap, but not crappy makeup.

I have yet to find a cheap alternative to MAC lipsticks, my favorite mac red shade is ruby woo and no cheap brands last as long or have the perfect color :( just a tip- if you can't afford the lipstick check if you have any empty mac products to use on the B2M scheme and get a free lipstick :)

I was surprisingly impressed with New Looks range of make up. The red they had was matt (I put gloss over it) and long lasting. The only downside was that it didn't feel that moisturising. Very cheap as well.

Bourjouis have a range of 3 red lipsticks which are all really nice, the darkest is my favourite. Revlon do pretty decent lipsticks too and Rimmel have some nice reds. MAC lipstick is probably only going to be a few euro more expensive than most of those though, so it might be worth it to just treat yourself to the MAC one rather than buying a lipstick that you don't love.

Also if you keep losing the MAC one, you could get a sample jar and cut off a little piece of the MAC lipstick and keep it in the sample jar. Bring that out with you along with a lip brush and if you lose it it won't be as bad as losing a whole tube.
