Saorview problem - Scrambled channels

    Hi,

Sorry if this has been covered somewhere before but I couldn't find a similar problem in the searches I've done. I have a Samsung LE530 connected to a UPC cable (there is digital in the other room in the house but I'm also paying for another non digital connection). The TV has scanned and picked up all of the digital and analogue channels/radio stations. However the only digital channels that I can view are

    RTE1
    Crime and Investigation HD
    Discovery WIld HD
    History channel HD

I can get all of the radio stations and the normal analogue channels appear. However when I try to select say TV3 I get the message 'Scrambled signal'. Am I doing something wrong??

Area is North Co Dublin BTW if that's of any relevance.

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Welcome to boards.

You need a UHF aerial for Saorview, it doesn't come through the cable.
Your TV obviously also has a digital cable DVB-C (as well as DTT/DVB-T for Saorview) tuner built in, but almost all digital television channels are crypted on upc and are only viewable on UPC Digital settopbox

I'm very surprised those HD channels are not encrypted.

The telly can probably tune and decode 'native' cable or DVB-C with a card ...but UPC do not allow this and insist on providing you with an STB instead.
