Buying show tickets at the last minute?

I put this in the London Megathread, but I didn't get any replys.

Iv organized a trip to london for 2 days for my mum and sisters. We are going to see Wicked on the night we are there and the day after the girls are going to go clothes shopping.

While they are off shopping I was thinking of catching a Matinee of another musical. The tickets are pretty expensive at this stage and I was wondering if it would be worth my while waiting till I am there and getting a ticket at the last minute.

Since I will be on my own, I am guessing I should be able to get a decent seat. Will I be able to get it at a reduced price, since I will be getting it right before the show?

If you had done a search of the thread using the tool at the top of the thread, you would have found information. Try TKTS on Leicester Sq for last minute tickets. They sell tickets in the morning for matinees and in the afternoon for evening performances on the same day. Generally 1/3 to 1/2 price depending on the seat/show.

Absolutely, but go direct to the Box Office of the Theatre you wish to attend. Do not get the top price ticket, ask them for the cheapest they have and act like even £10 is too expensive. Be persistent but remain polite, they have no reason to see you walk away if they can fill a seat.
