Thesis Engineering

    Hey guys. So I've started writing my thesis (finally) and i have one question. Alot of people i talked always seem to tell me to have a lot of references, or basically facts taken from other peoples work. How many references should i be writing? As in, should i be writing 10 facts/references per page or a hundred?

    Ive read, or skimmed over a few thesis's now and it does seem to be the more the better, but i was wondering if there was a certain number i should be aiming for?

    Also if were given a guidline of 100 pages, should i be aiming for those 100 pages or less?

    There's no formula for the ideal number of references per page (for any subject). Just reference the material which needs referencing. Are you building upon someone elses work? reference it when it's mentioned. Obviously you wouldn't have to reference everything, just the bits critical to your thesis.

    Also, go for the 100 pages. They wouldn't have said 100 pages if they were ok with significantly less. + or - 10% is the general rule with essay word counts, it's probably the same here.
