HTC Desire - overheating

I have noticed an issue with my HTC Desire (Froyo) when I try to use the camcorder. Firstly, the phone freezes up when I switch from the camera to the camcorder. After about 30 seconds or so I can get back to the main menu but the phone then runs extremely slow.

The issue though is that after this, the phone's battery starts to overheat and drains extremely fast (i.e. a couple of hours as opposed to the usual 24 hours or so I get from the phone).

Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, how did you fix it?

No issues with my phone doing this. Have you installed a custom ROM or using stock froyo? Has it always done this or is it a recent thing?

Just using stock Froyo (unlocked o2 phone on meteor network). I've actually only tried to use the camcorder a few times since updating to Froyo and it has happened each time. I have read that there are issues with recording 720p on slower micro-sd cards (mine is class 2), but I'm not sure how this would cause the overheating.

Define overheating. I mean, mine warms up after extended use but I'd never call it hot.

Anyway, tried to replicate your problem but couldn't.

    Hope you figure it out:)

Yeah mine also heats up after extended use but this was a good bit hotter than that.

I might see if the issue is just with the default camcorder app actually. Does anyone know of any decent free camcorder apps?

The video option in the default camera? Cause I've never had a problem with it

Do you have a case on the phone? Remove it and see if it makes any difference. That could be the issue. Another thing you could try is SetCPU which I think can throttle back the CPU if the phone gets too hot. The phone would need to be rooted. Failing all that, return to HTC.
