    Hey guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before (ive done a quick search but couldnt find anything...) but is it possible to import an mp3 of a song into garage band and slow it down without changing pitch ie. for the purposes of learning a phrase from it like a guitar solo?

Alternatively is there any other good 'slow downer' apps out there - free if possible obviously! :)

Am all new to Mac so be gentle!

The term you're looking for is time stretching and you can do it without altering the pitch of the sound file. Not sure if garageband can do it but fairly certain Audacity can do it. If you don't know Audacity, it's a free audio editing program. Be sure not to download the newest beta version though as it's quite unstable.
