Stephen Roche at 1987 World Champs was unexpected too!

Thanks for that pete, had'nt come across that site before.
It was unprecedented for a team to dominate one of the toughest and hilliest 'classic' races on the calendar in such a manner.
Of course there was the infamous Paris Roubaix in 1996 ;)

Still remember Indurain's TT in '92 Tour. Incredible. Love to have seen a duel between himself and Cancellara. Roche on the day just couldn't believe he lost more than 4 mins to Big Mig

Berzin was the Riccardo Ricco of his day. Great talent but juiced to the eyeballs.

will look thro' my tapes and see if I have that 94 Fleche race

Jaysus I never saw that finish before, that's fairly unbelievable. And there is no way I'd have let Museeuw have the win like that.

I was trying to find footage of the Gewiss Team in the 1994 Fleche Wallone

Anyone got any footage of Gewiss in 1994?

2 and a bit years later, someone done me a favour.

Mueseeuw was a giant in cycling at the time. He was the number 1 in Mapei, it was the right thing to do. I loved him, a proper classics rider.

Surprise wins: Riis winning Le Tour, dominating Indurain in the mountains.

No thinly veiled surprises there. Cobo simply got the gearing right, while the rest of the peloton all got it wrong. So it wasn't like he had the sleep of two men on the rest day or anything;) If Gianetti knows one thing, it's gearing...

I was trying to find footage of the Gewiss Team in the 1994 Fleche Wallone and found this:

Somehow I think it was less of a surprise to Gewiss' then team doctor, pioneering Michele Ferrari & Professor Conconi.

I have visions of the end of Pixar's Incredibles when Dash's parents are telling him to run faster & slower to not win by too much.
