    Hi there,
Can any body advise what are the procedures for importing a Landrover Defender ex UK and wanting to VRT, DOE and tax it commercially?

This would be a good start for your research:

    http://revenue.ie/en/online/vrt-calculator.html

    VRT Category B
Category B vehicles include certain car-derived vans and jeep-derived vans.

The rate of VRT applicable to Category B vehicles, subject to a minimum VRT of €125, is 13.3% of the Open Market Selling Price (OMSP).

Also see the "Importing from the UK" sticky on the main motors page:

The rules as to what qualifies as a category C commercial are changing. A lot of SUV type vans will no longer qualify for €50 VRT (or €200 from May onwards), but will now fall in to the 13.3% Category B.

Whether that applies to the Defender you are thinking off is another matter, nobody seems to know when the change is taking effect and what the outcome will be, on which vehicles.
