    See link below for details.

    http://www.lidl.ie/IE/home.nsf/print..._DLP_Projector

Looks good except that it doesnt seem to take HDMI (Media Player/Hard Disk) input, by any chance could that feed be routed through/converted into the listed inputs which are "RGB D-sub 15 pin, composite, s-video, and stero mini jack.

It has an integrated speaker but I gather you could hook it up to home cinema speakers.

Its out Monday & will probably sell that morning so any comments welcome - bit the bullet time for me as have been toying (pardon the pun) with getting a home cineam projector. Cheap and cheerful is my thing so even if this isnt top spec it would do if I knew I'd get over the HDMI issue.

    Thanks.

According to Maplin you can convert HDMI feed to RGB (the blue 15 pin on the back of a laptop), the converter is €83 !! I suppose playing it through a laptop would do the same but sure hung for a sheep as a lamb - dont fancy having to tie up a laptop every time I want to use it.

So for €460 (combined) I get what I need.

Any views (.... with comments this time ;-) )

Maybe its not the same thing but I uncovered this on a google search. So maybe buy the projector, borrow some Wii leads and see if it works. If not then converter.

"Great News! I had the same problem, but both Sony and Nintendo just fixed this for us! Both the P.S. 3 and the Nintendo Wii use this exact cable!!!! It is HDMI at one end, and 5 RCA type jacks at the other, gold plated and 8 or 10 feet, depending on brand. Three leads are R, G and B, the other two are R and L audio. Price is around $15-20 around the web, got mine from NewEgg(dot)com for $19.99. Best of luck! Mike"

i had wanted one for a long time too but i bought second hand on adverts and got an in focus in76 for 400, much better machine than the new one lidl are selling.
you can get good second hand low lamp hours if you are prepared to wait for the right one and can see it demoed too.

i have a pulldown ceiling mounted screen you can have for little money if you need one i haven't got around to advertising it on adverts yet, might do that later when it's back

either way a projector is fantastic for movies and games, you won't regret it!

    all the best

Thanks for that STTG. Only spotted your post now, I picked up the Lidl jobby this morning but I think it'll be grand for what I need (as I said, cheap and cheerful and 70% there is grand for me). As I'm not very techie I'd probably wait forever before I'd know if I was getting a good deal on a 2nd hand.

Re the projector screen, I could well be interested. What size is it? Did you get a better one or have you a white wall arrangement that suits you better?

i got the NEC projector from Lidl as well.

if you're still pondering on the projector screen, you may want to think about just getting a (tupplur) blackout roller blinds in ikea. i got the 160x195cm one for just 19.99euros. worked perfectly and i could just roll it up when i don't need it :)

    hope this helps.

I know this is very late!, looking at projectors again for a local group I'm with. Am very happy with the Lidl job. Turned out my Media player had red, white & yellow outputs so didnt need to bother with all that conversion jazz.
