    Alright guys,

Here's a link to a video about, the silent male killer - prostate cancer. We had to make this video as part of our third year studying pharmacy in Aberdeen.

It's a light-hearted, seasonal video. If nothing else, you will get a laugh out of watching it. Please forward it onto your friends and family, or anyone you think needs a bit of a laugh in their day.

Good initiative. The DRE (Digital Rectal Examination) normally takes about as long as is shown in the video. As I've said to my consultant, I'll *never* get used to it (the DRE), but as long as he finds it useful to do, we'll do it.

The one criticism I'd make of the video is that there is no mention of a PSA blood test - a simple test, much like a cholestrol test. This is normally the first test done and a DRE is generally only done if PSA is found to be elevated. The PSA test isn't perfect, but is nevertheless a useful tool.

Either way, PSA and/or DRE, if you're over 40, or have a family history, lads get it done sooner. The general practice in the UK is to wait for symptoms to appear first before testing. In Ireland, its a bit more proactive but varies.

If I'd waited for symptoms to appear, I'd be in deep s*#t now. I had a radical prostatectomy 2.5 years ago and am absolutely flying now!!!:):):)

Like the video recommends, get yours(elves) checked out!! Ho, Ho, Ho!!!

I read in one medical journal that boys/youths who masturbated 4 or more times weekly before the age of 25 were much less likely to develop prostatic hypertrophy or cancer. Can this be true, and surely most of the male population out there would qualify? Unless, I was an absolute weirdo.
