    Are the SSD hard drives compatible with most motherboards?

    any SATA2 supporting motherboard, yes.
    if you have a SATA HDD in your PC, then its perfectly fine.

    but SSD's work much better on Windows7, and needs alot of software modifying on vista and XP.

    They are the same as connecting a hard drive

    but ideally you also want an OS with TRIM support.

    Screw SSDs

    Z-Drives are the way to go :cool:
