I think to Claim government scrappage a car has to have a valid nct. I am open to correction though.

right, 20k is a fair bit of room to be spending on a car, does it have to be 2011 ?

Hold tight I'd say, the extended scrappage scheme was only announced this evening in the budget so car manufacturers (other than Renault who played their cards earlier) haven't had time to react yet. I'm sure their offers will be released in the next couple of weeks.
