acrylic beginner book

Hi, I'm looking for a book for a christmas present for a beginner artist. From talking to people, i've decided that acrylics are the way to go for the beginner. Am i wrong or right? The book should be nothing too fancy but something with good simple instructions and tips. Any ideas?
