    Hi,

I am a first time buyer and I am closing on a house tomorrow. Will I now have to pay stamp duty? :(

Yes, the relief is been abolished at midnight. Tomorrow you will pay 1% on the value of the house transaction.

Even though I signed the contract in November?

I think it relates to when you signed your contract, so you should be ok, but check with your legal representative tomorrow, they should be able to confirmit toyou, remember thats what your paying them for.

    good luck

I think you'll be ok, this is an excerpt from the budget speech
The new rates will apply to property transfers on or after 8 December 2010. A transitional provision will be put in place to ensure that anyone who has entered into a binding contract to purchase a residential property before 8 December 2010, and who executes the transfer of that property before 1 July 2011, will not lose out.

I think you should get legal advice pronto. You might be ok as you signed a contract already.
