Looking to spend in and around 600-800 should I look past this Allen&Heath Xone 42

I will be selling a DJM-600 Black if anyone is after one.

Xone 42 seems like the ideal candidate imo.

Ive no need for effects, I rarely use the filter but as far as I'm aware this comes with the xone. I really don't think there is anything better, now ive to sell my old mixer and a few other bits and pieces to afford it.

Prestige? Most experienced DJs I know think pioneers sound ****e and look toy like

I'd be going with the A&H I reckon .. much better soundwise.

Might be worth looking at Ecler as an option as well

Pioneer are decent enough mixers but not in the same league as A&H for audio goodness.

Pioneer = 400 euro worth of mixer, rest = toys
    A&H = All money @ sound quality

In having had the 600 before though think you can live without the FX ?
    pioneer 'prestige'
    = good marketing

It's amazing how pioneer have fooled people (especially new comers to djing) that their mixers are the premium product in the market..Clever marketing i suppose. How anyone could spend over 2k on the new one makes me wonder

    Well they did 2 things

    1. The pioneered the CD "Turntable"
    2. They Brought out a Decent* 4 ch club mixer which matched the above turntable which had one of the first (if not THE first) useable DJ FX**unit which soon became requested on the rider of alot of big name jocks at the time.

*Decent: rivaled other mid range club mixers in Sound Quality / Build like Citronic at roughly the same price which were installed all over the place.

**Unless you had an external FX unit a sampler and some cat/dog sounds was the most you would get (and only on the really dodgy cheap Gemini style DJ mixers).

    Pioneer = Toyota
    A&H = BMW

    IMHO of course

And original refurbished bozak/urei = bentley (sound wise)

yeah the money you spend on an A&H is really buying the audio circuitry (well up until their recent abomination of a djm competitor). Personally, I think the sound out of an A&H is a lot better than a Pioneer.
If you have no interest in the toys and just want a great sounding mixer, A&H trumps pioneer every time.
Check out the ecler stuff too.

The Ecler in the same price bracket has similar features apart from the A&H filter.

Pioneers you're paying the effects unit and a successful marketing campaign. AH you're paying for sound quality, that's about it. I'd go with the AH any day, once I get the money together AH is my only choice. If I want effects I'll buy an effects unit.

I use the 42 every week in the Shaw, and it's a lovely mixer. Really nice EQs and faders, but the filter absolutely baffles me. Makes no sense. More DJs have come in giving out about it than praising it though, but I think it's more due to them being used to Pioneers than anything else.
