Didn't go to college, had no super powers, weakest member of the scooby gang. Discuss.

I should have remembered that, I would have changed the title was Xander an unfortunate **** up? I think he got a rough deal throughout the series, not least losing his eye.

In all honesty i liked him, yes he had no powers and buffy was rescuing all the time, but he knew that and was the joker and once he lost the eye and slightly before he was becoming more active in doing fighting. I liked him in the episode with the zombie american footballers when he got his uncles car.

I liked Xander too, I just thought he got a bad deal in the series, he should have gone to college. Thats my main criticism.

How can you criticise him not going to college? That was his arc towards the end of the show.

I don't think you could call him a **** up, from what I remember he carved out a pretty good career for himself in construction. Whether someone went or didn't go to college should not be a gauge to judge someone.

I would also put forth the argument that he was arguably the most emotionally stable and strong of the group.

Yeah, I'd go along with that, he seemed pretty happy with his job. Also he also struck me as the one from the gang that matured emotionally the most during the run of the series (obviously starting from a pretty low starting point), which I think had a lot to do with the fact that he didn't have any powers, which obviously caused Buffy and Willow major issues. I also loved his zombie episoide and his big speech to Buffy just before Riley left, and when Dawn called him 'the one who watches', which was why he lost his eye. Basically, my favourite character (also I always considered Anya by far the hottest character, so go Xander - up to a point, obviously)

by far i think he was the least ****ed up of them all only person in the show that didnt completely melt dwn at sum stage or another he took lifes load and jst dealt wit it got a good job own apartment i mean his life wasnt to bad all in all.

I thought he was one of the more likeable characters, even if he was a bit of a train wreck he was a likeable, honest one. Reminded me a lot of Shaggy. Anytime anything went wrong, for example that time the engine literally fell out of his car - it didn't feel like he was a loser or anything like that more that it was someone who had a lot to deal with and kept on dealing with it. I'd agree he was the most emotionally mature and stable.

Well that was the point, and he really came into his own in season seven.

I think they would have done his character more justice if he had studied chemistry in college. Although he was portrayed as a bit of slacker he seemed to have an interest in chemistry in Sunnydale High. Also losing the eye was just harsh on the part of the writers.

Great character, and he wasn't a screw up after the construction jazz. Would have been more boring without him

I think it was nice to show "screw ups" can improve their lives once they find what they're good at and that college isn't the only way to succeed.

I'm glad he was there simply because he was "useless". without him it would be hard to have that outsider view point being mentioned in the show and gave the audience someone on the same level to relate to.
