    Hi everyone!

Looking to book a winter break for myself and the misses.

Any recommendations of where people have stayed and ball park prices are much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Conor

I've been to gran canaria, fuerteventura and Tenerife in the winter. Fuerteventura (corralejo) is my favourite. I would never pay more than €250 for a week/ €280 for 10 days. Heading to gran canaria for a week at the end of January, €200 each. Flight with ryanair (couple of times have flown with AL). Accommodation sites I've used inc alpharooms.com, lastcheck and Thomson.

you might want to forget tenerife, its a kip if you get the wrong spot and there's plenty of them and (unless things have changed dramatically in the last year or so) its too expensive to fly to and stay in compared to the other islands unless you really want to do non-stop clubbing all night every night, in which case go for playa de las americas.

if you really want to do tenerife and want it a little quieter with much better scenery then go for playa de la arena or los gigantes (i used to live there) but los gigs is very hilly, so be prepared to be walking either uphill or downhill anywhere you go. its well worth a visit tho, its great for scuba diving, whale & dolphin watching and walking/hiking tours with the masca walk up the valley into the 'lost village' being world famous amongst hikers and well worth it if you've got the legs for it. if you're less well abled you can walk down instead of up which is significantly easier. :)

lanzarote would be nice. puerto del carmen is the most popular area to go on the island, altho it can be a bit windy.

la palma & gran canaria are more popular with the europeans so if you have an aversion to lots of tourists from the UK & ireland they might be a better option for you.

wherever you go, try and aim to be there for new year & the 3 kings celebrations (6th january) as there will be lots of fiesta's and the like, which are great craic. OR avoid like the plague if you have kids and plan on early nights as you'll probably get no sleep. :)

thats it for now off the top of my head. if you've any questions then ask away. :)

southern gran canaria will be the warmest place in the canaries this time of year, lanzarote can be quite windy (making it feel rather chilly) in winter, mount teide affects the weather on tenerife alot, it does be interesting though going from 20+ degrees in the south of tenerife to snow on the summit of teide only a few miles away

its pretty mad alright. i've been for a play in the snow up teide and then driven less than an hour to get back home to los gigantes and gone swimming and sun bathing. :)
