Anyone see James McCartans pre- and post-1990 all stars in Sindo.
Ten Ulstermen in post 1990 selection?Only one kerry man?

Can't comment too much on the pre 1990 but post -
No Maurice Fitzgerald, Gooch, Colm O'Rourke, Martin O'Connell, Daragh O'Shea to name but a few contenders. (ps I'm a Dub, not form Kerry or Meath)

Havent seen it myself either but just along the names you have mentioned missing I would say

    Maurice Fitz - Yes
    Gooch - No
    Colm O rourke - yes
    Martin O Connell - No
    Darragh - Yes

Presumably the meath lads fall under the 80s bracket.

Not at all surprising, the Ulster lads are always very biased towards their own province.

Out of intrest why no to the Gooch. Coming from Kerry (so completly biased), i'd rate him higher then literally any other player i've seen in my life. His, skill, his point taking, his directing of the game, his handling, his movement, his pressure kicks. One of a kind and i'd have him first name on a post 1990's All Star teamsheet. Yes even ahead of Canavan (2nd name on the list). Don't discount him on account of his name being tarnished by begrudgers. Not aimed at you by the way, just in general.

The gooch is an excellent finisher on his day but I think he is overrated myself.have seen him play several matches games against limerick and cork and even the all ireland club a few years back.I have never seen him give a masterclass display and was beaten by his man several times.

For all the talk about his genius he has been very ordinary in some club games in kerry even. His attitude when he doesnt have the ball is poor and rarely makes an attempt to win the ball back in the way declan o sullivan or evn the likes of donnacha walsh and brian/bryan sheehan would do.

He is very one footed and this is where the likes of mattie forde and Peter Canavan stand out more.I wouldnt say the gooch was the best in kerry.Mikey sheehy for me from what i have seen was a better corner forward.gooch wouldnt be blessed with the brilliance of maurice fitz further out the field either.

not begrudgery at all just my opinion.

if anything maurice was the best I have seen in my lifetime. He wasnt compared with zidane for nothing.

While everyone is entitled to their opinion (and I agree with you re. Maurice Fitz) the highlighted bit for me shows you're just seeing things as you want. Gooch is about as two footed a player as I've ever seen.

I won't get into the numerous masterclass performances he has given over the years but as a big fan of Mikey Sheehy in his day I have no hesitaton in saying that Gooch is a superior footballer.
