My 60gb ps3 has been out of action for quite some time now so i thought i'd get it fixed for the holiday season!

    It's a 60gb and needs a new blu-ray drive (I reckon)

Place out near tallaght will fix it for 120 but I could get a new one for about 200! Anyone know of somewhere around that will fix it for less than 100? I'm based in south dublin.

    Thanks!

You can get the parts at a good price on the net and there's plenty of videos on youtube on how to fix all these kinda problems. Can save you a pretty penny in the long run, also makes you feel good that you fixed such a problem.

Any idea whereabouts can I get some parts in Dublin? My 60GB bluray refused to cooperate recently after 4 years of perfect work... Initially games started to freeze, now its nearly impossible to play. The console itself is working fine, but the bluray seems to be stuck doing the same operation over and over again. I dismantled the drive and cleaned up the lens so it allowed me to play 10 minutes longer than usual... Discs are spotless, I reckon the drive is dying/dead.

I'm sure a consloe repair shop may sell the parts to you, but probably at an inflated price because they won't be doing the work for you. Have a google for places and you'll find one close.

Or verify the blu ray lens you need from here :
    http://www.edepot.com/playstation3.html

Get it on ebay and install yourself.

    Done.
