wine kit, first timer

    Hi all,
    I am trying to make a shiraz in a kit and I think I have ruined it. I followed all the instructions properly but its only here on this board where I found out you should sterilise the hydrometer (I just rinsed it each time) and also I just syphoned from primary to secondary by sucking on the end of the tube which I gather is a big no no. (again never stated on instructions anywhere).

    I added the stabiliser last night and I'm at the stage of getting all the CO2 out. I tasted a few drops during this process last night and its very bitter. It this batch fecked or is it too early to tell?
