At least the update system is changed from a 3.4 or when ever so it won't be a big install or download.

So it's not a full revision firmware? Is it delivered in patches or similar now? Ie a patch for 3.50

My PS3 has frozen twice while playing MOH since updating this morning. Played an audio CD with no problems though.

Anyone else having issues with it?

The way it was is that you downloaded the full 130MB ish file each time it tell you to update but since 3.40 or there about it only downloads the changes to the firmware so it's now up to 130MB each time, so the download will be faster but the install as will be the same.

    That's good news :)

Thank god for that. Used to hate having to wait 40 minutes of more when I turned my PS3 on because it had to download a massive update and install it. 360 was much nicer to use. At least I'm using the PS3 a lot more now so it doesn't happen everytime I get anew game.

For the 150th time when I go to do a stupid update I get an error, this time 8002F0C1, which is some kind of system update error
If you continue to have issues with the system update, you will need to send the PlayStation®3 in for service.

I am sick to death of it. I wonder if I get it working again what will stop, the internet, DVD's or Blu-rays! I have tried it from USB key and internet. If it doesn't work by tomorrow I will have to try wipe the drive again.

It is a prehistoric 60 gig, well out of warranty. I will figure something out, if I hit a dead end I will call them as a last resort.

    You are not alone buddy!
I have a 60g ps3 fat since 2007, last Tuesday at 2.00 am I was forced to make a update so I could play GTA4 online. The bastards send me a firmware 3.55 to update my old 3.50, but this is not a new function or something that is useful, its a security patch to block the ps3breaker, or any mod made to the system.
Now It's in a loop to update that only gets to 4%, I have opened the brick, took it apart, and even tried to format the disc, nothing works.
My Ps3 is all original, now I have 16 blue discs to play Frisbee on the beach.

I'm going to call Sony, and give the code 8002f0c1, I bet with you guys that they going to say that its broken, and need a new one.

_Try to find more people with the same problem and let´s go to their boards make our selfs been acknowledged our issue.

Here Dark-G, Portuguese player, get me at darkg.cracker@gmail.com

    Thanks

Engagdet had this classic line when the 3.55 update was released.
be sure to pledge your allegiance and update today, so that you can be better prepared to update again tomorrow.

I have experience with desktop PC's but PS3 is different couse I took the lithium battery out, and keeps the same, My guess flash memory haves the update 3.50 and can´t go back.
I've done recovery all that crap, even remove the disk wen it is updating.
