myself and the father have been tryin to get a fox thats been hangin around for about a month now.
we've been finding tracks, runs, evidence of kills and have even spotted him a couple of times when we had no gun with us.
so we tried snares in his runs, and he changed his runs.
we tried calling but no joy.
we got a few lads from the gun club to try beating a few likely spots near us but still no joy.
well anyway we thought he had us bet, but tonight we proved ourselves wrong.
around 10 o'clock dad rings me "hey that fox is out the front field"
"right so" says i. i grabbed the tikka and the mag and tore out to him.
by the time i got out the fox had made his way down to where he was standing between us and a bunch of weanlings that are out in the field.
all we could do was watch him look back laughing at us (well thats what it felt like he was doing) then hop up into the ditch.
we walked around into the field he went into but couldn't see anything, so we said we'd try again in an hour or two.
around 12 o'clock we went out, and it was snowing fairly hard.
dad throws on the new u caller lamp mam got me for my birthday last friday (thanks mam:D) and we were surprised to see 5 or 6 rabbits out but no charlie in this field.
tried the rabbit distress on the u caller remote but no takers.
so dad says we'll try another field a couple of hundred yards away.
i suggested the vixen call so we gave it a go, after about a minute here comes charlie thinkin he's gonna get the ride. he pulls up when he sees the lamp but the hormones are robbing him of some of his cautiousness.
he starts moving over and back in front of the lamp and all i can see are his eyes so i get down on the ground and look through the nightforce.
even through the snow i can see him clearly, so the next time he stops i send 55 grains of angry vmax towards him crack and thump it bowls him over. shot was around 150 yards.
he was a massive dog fox bit of a scrapper by the looks of things and with a couple of years behind him as some of his teeth were well worn.
i'll try and get a photo up tomorrow

Nightforce and Hornady 55grain Vmax, a bit like UNIFLU; gives Charlie and Bunnies the ole one two, a powerful combination!;)

ah now Tack, if you need a one two you may as well leave it so.

More like "assistance from a distance"!!

Not sure what you mean there Jonty.

I meant, Very accurate calibre, very powerful scope leaves bullet placement easier ensuring a clean instant kill.;)
