The design is terrible, the rear window screen washer pipe feeds through the wiper motor gear and spindle. Subsequently, as the bush wears the water leaks into the wiper motor and causing the motor to seize.

Cost from BMW: in the region of £200.00

It's not listed as a service item or noted as requiring attention. The motor will slow and not give a full wipe action, by which time it is too late.
