Took battery out before going on holiday

    Hi

I took the battery out of 1999 Seat Ibiza 1L before going on holidays back on the 17th Nov, since I got back last Wednesday I haven't needed the car so I didn't bother putting it back in. It's wrapped up in the bedroom, should I put it back in to run the engine or just let it lie for another few weeks until the weather has picked up?

    Any help appreciated

    Thanks

    Or how about this....

got one similar for €14.99 for my car while its parked up.
Connects thru the cars cigarette lighter. Keeping a trickle feed of
power topping up your cars battery.

If you need the car put it back in, if you don't need it put it in when you do. Probably wouldn't be any harm to get a battery charger and give it a charge before pitting it back in.

How old is the battery, is it the same one in it since you bought it???

The trickle charger is a good idea, but interetingly enough the Seat Ibiza's from that year didn't always have a cigarette lighter, does yours???

That Maplin's trickle charger comes with crocodile clips as well. The cig lighter adapter will only work if that circuit is live with the ignition switched off.

Battery will be fine, but better off charging it before putting back into the car as it will loose some charge.

There's no point in starting the engine now, will more then likely do more harm then good. Just make sure the tyres are inflated to avoid flatspots.

Don't put the battery in until you are ready to start using the car - the cold will mean that it will give less power when you try to start.

    You did very good.
You preserved batter from uncharging in the car.
If you just unplugged it, and left it in the car, effect would be similar, but it's always better to keep battery in warm house wrapped.

There shouldn't really be any reason for charging it before using, as battery doesn't really lose any power if it's kept warm and unplugged.
Just plug it in when you need it, and start driving again.

I took the battery out of the car I'm not using while the weather is like this.

Any car lying up unused in this weather would drain a battery, especially the cold nights.

I have it on tricle charge for the last week and it'll stay there till I want the car again.

OP...if you have the battery inside in a warm area it should be ok but no harm in charging it if you have a charger. If you don't have a charger don't bother getting one especially.

Just put it back in the car when you need the car again.
