    I was just wondering is it illegal to carry a canceled passport of somelse onto a flight ?

    Only if you try to used it as ID, if it was in a sealed envelope in a bag and it was in your possession for a legitimate reason then they should be no problem.

    Do you mean a passport which has had a corner of the front page cut off? Why would it be illegal? How is it going to be discovered anyway if you don't declare it?

    A cancelled passport in Ireland has the corners cut off and a nice big red cancelled stamp on it so, if you mean to say you "lost" your passport, got a new one and now still have the old "cancelled" & "lost" passport then yes, it's illegal.

    You're only to have 1 current and valid passport. You can hold as many cancelled ones as you like so long as they're returned to the passport office to be amended and cancelled upon the issue of a new one.
