Question re. balancing/tracking tyres.

My wife's car (Ford s max) had a lot of wear on the outer edge of her front tyre which I thought was down to tracking.
When I brought it to tyre centre they said the two front tyres were worn down to 2mm at edges and recommended two new tyres. These tyres are less than 6 months old and about 10000km mileage.
I had them replaced and tracking balancing done but now the steering wheel vibrates at about 55 to 60 mph.
Is this down to new tyres bedding in or something more serious?
I don't know enough myself. Should I bring it back to tyre centre or could it be something wrong with car itself?

    Any advice appreciated.

Tracking being off usually wears tyres, wheels needing to be balanced usually causes vibration in the steering wheel.

You might need both done, a knock or a bad pothole could have put tracking out or knocked a wheel weight off a rim.

Uneven tyre wear can also be a result of over/under inflation of the tyres and worn suspension.

If steering wheel is vibrating only not the floor, problem is in front tyres/suspension.

Just go back and ask them to re-balance front tyres and check if they add/remove any weight this time.

Small tracking issues shouldn't cause vibration unless tracking is done extremely bad.

You can ask them to check it again but I still don't think this is the issue.

And ask them to check rims in case they are buckled.

If vibration is still there, ask them to change rear tyres to front and fronts to back without any balancing/tracking.

If car floor starts to shake instead of steering wheel, you have bad tyres. I have experienced similar problem on a brand new chinese brand tyre.

If there is no change after front to back change, check your ball joints and and bushes on front suspension for wear.

    Good Luck !

Sounds like the wheels weren't properly balanced when they put the new tyres on. Just go back and ask them to balance the wheels again.
