    hi everyone,

My fiance wants to get into the golfing scene and for xmas id like to get him started. I dont no what to get though, is it better to buy him some lessons or golf clubs? can any one recommend a good golf club in south dublin for lessons? Or suggest what clubs he needs to start playing?

Any advice or suggestions would be great!

you can pick up some good 2nd hand clubs in any golf shop. you should try mcquirks. this will get ur fella started and when we feels comfortablethat he can go get his own set then. As for lessons i'm not sure who in dublin does them but red lane in newbridge have good pro's for lessons. Has he ever played before? Even messing with the lads or that?

Definitely no point in shelling out a significant amount of money on clubs when you are unsure whether he will be committed to golf.

It's not an easy game to take up and not everyone wants to commit the time and effort in order to get over the initial frustration periods. Get him some lessons and if you're flush a cheap set of second hand clubs - there are oceans of them available on adverts etc.

He can then decide on the next steps after that.

Got a message off Greystones driving range today, ya can buy a gift voucher for €49 that includes 2 lessons and 6 buckets of balls, valid for six months!
I'll be treating meself to a pressie there, think ya have to buy the voucher this week though.
