    Folks
    I am in a bit of puddle here with my car, my motor is in Caragh, just outside Nass, it won't start and I have tried jump start, bleeding the diesel, cleaning the EGR valve but no joy.

    The car rescue rang Finlay Ford and they reckon its the timing chain. Now speaking to another mate down here, who is ex Ford, he says the timing chains dont go on them and they want 1200 euro to replace.

    Anyway, is there anyone of you or if you know of anyone around the Naas area who could get to my car to read the codes. I got the AA out but they reckon that they can't read it as the model didn't show up :(

    Yes typically timing chains dont go, at worst they stretch over time.

    I dont know how they can diagnose this over the phone, without looking at it, unless clearly the cam shaft is not turning as it's cranked.

    If you think it's an electrical/electronic problem you can try donnellys auto electric (on fishery lane)

    Thanks lads, it turned out that the AA carry VAG diag kits, not sure about that though.
