I'm trying to decide how to get to work tomorrow (off today). It makes sense to take the bus (145) but I see there is a big demo planned for Kildare st at 5.30 tomorrow - I've no chance of getting out before that.............any idea what normally happens if the street is blocked?

it will either be diverted or finish at a pint before the demo I imagine

Usually the Garda try and keep the demos on Molesworth Street itself, leaving Kildare Street free.

If not I would imagine they would divert the 145 down Mount Street and then it would turn right at Holles Street and continue to Leeson Street bridge - this is the route the 46N takes and would seem to make sense.

I'd say it would be straight down nassu st, turn right at merrion square up thru Hume St and back out onto the contra flow at the green meaning only the stop on Kildare St will be missed.

The only busses that I can foresee traveling through Kildare St tomarrow afternoon are two chartered Bus Eireann coaches full of EMU Gardai.

Traffic allowed down Kildare St may well be Cherrypicked after the protest this morning:)

RTE are reporting that Kildare St has been closed by Gardai.

The main march is apparently at 7pm from Parnell Square to Leinster House.

    RTE reports:

"Kildare Street and Molesworth Street are closed as there is a protest taking place outside the Dáil because of the Budget. Dublin Bus is diverting services via Nassau Street, Merrion Street Upr and Ely Place."
