    Hi all,
Just wondering what you all think are the nicest kind of shoes men wear under a pair of jeans when dressed up and going out?

What do you think of Timberlands style boots etc?

Depends on the Jeans. Dark navy and timberlands are always a classic. Steer clear of black shoes and jeans combo. Does not bode well.

I have recently been looking at dark brown leather boots. Cat / Timberland do styles of these. So it may be my next purchase

Certainly wouldn't wear timberlands if i were dressing up and going out. They are far too casual IMO plus i don't like the look of them, too chunky and a horrible shape, grand for a work boot i guess.
H by Hudson and a few in the Ted Baker line are IMO some of the best looking shoes and boots at the moment. I think the Brogue Style boots are very cool and they can be dressed up or down, thats what i would be looking at. I usually just wear a more formal style shoe but your jeans must fit well as in straight or slim and preferably a darker denim. I wear black shoes too with jeans and they look great if you have a darker denim.

OP i was refering to boots such as below

Still dont think black shoes work as per poster above. Black is not for jeans, I stand by that. It just doesnt look right.

Why? Could you elaborate? Have to say I totally disagree.

Black shoes with jeans can often look like school shoes... black books work ok I think - even a chelsea style boot (probably gone out with the ark, are they?). But a laceup black shoe rarely works.

Even those Cats linked to above are too chunky with jeans for going out. They look too casual.

The importance of a nice shoe on a man cannot be underestimated.

The whole reason i bought my black shoes was because my brown or tan shoes made some outfits look way off. Black shoes with the right outfit can really tie it together. Its always a darker denim, indigo, black or grey that id wear with them and a nice fitting simple shirt. There are plenty of times when brown just makes it look too busy as you'll be needing a brown belt too.

I really hate timberland boots, really really really hate! I don't see the appeal at all, please don't wear them out. A nice pair of smart black/brown shoes will look much better.

I never undestand it when I see guys wearing the Denim and Timberland boot option. It looks awful. Grow up and get yourself some decent shoes for going out in. The weather the last few days has meant that boots have been needed for during the day and such. I have some brown leather Gant boots that I bought in Fitzpatrick's(or is it Thomas Patrick, I always mix up the two!) and they have been fantastic. Dressy, but also casual. Have been wearing them in the rain mostly before the snow, but they still keep my feet warm and dry in the snow. That said, the Hunters did make an appearance for the past week due to the slush etc. Can't beat a good pair of Hunters! :)

Really don't like the timberland boots with jeans on guys sorry op!
Think its because whenever I go out at home every second guy is wearing them.
I seen some nice shoes for lads in barrats and schuh last time I was in town.

Have to say I hate the timberladn boots with jeans look too. I always think it looks a bit unsophisticated.

What footwear you should go for depends on where you're going out to. If its a normal commercial club like Coppers or D2 then I would say a nice slim brown/black shoe.

If its anywhere else (Tripod, Andrews Lane, Button Factory) then I would get a nice pair of runners (obviously not scumbag bubbly ones)
