Assessing Management in college

    Hi,

I am currently setting Continuous Assessments assignments for a college class. Having not written an essay in 10 years of doing business, I am reluctant to set a CA as 'write an essay on bla bla bla...'.

For groups of 2-3 I am looking for an innovative means of assessing 'management'. The work should be equivelent to a 1500-2000 word essay and should be completable in a 3-4 week period around regular studies.

    Ideas I've considered:

Your group is a team of advisors to New York City at 9am Sept 11, 2001. (crisis management).
Critique a management skill from a non-management environment, for example 'communication in halo multiplayer on xbox' or 'strategic thinking in poker'.
Interview a manager of your choice and highlight key lessons you have learnt from him/her.

Any ideas greatly appreciated. i want to make this as interesting as possible for students. Also, feedback on above ideas would be great too.

    (cross posting in Biz section)
