When you buy one litre of Volvic the blacks in Africa get ten.

You must have more sensitive taste buds than me. Water is a very neutral flavour.

People willingly buy water? It's like a stupid tax!

Bottled water is preferred to the mercury infested sh*te that can be found in most water fountains.

The chemicals found in your average tap water sample are nothing compared to the chemicals that are leached from plastic bottles.

Yes I am aware of bottles leaching plastics but there are markers on bottles which display the number of times they may be used before breaking down.

Tap water contains chlorine which when combined with organic contaminants form carcinogens.
Fluoride in our water supply has never been proven to have any effect on our dental health, but ingestion has been proven to damage the brain, bones and the thyroid gland.

    Il stick with the evian

I'm of totally the oposite opinion, I hate volvic and think it tastes like piss.

Ballygowan hasn't really got much of a taste, and that's why I like it, it's pure water. Volvic tastes like a volcano has dumped a pile of lava into it rather than filter it.

Got a reverse osmosis tap in the house that my Mam had fitted a few years ago. €120 to service it once a year and bottleable quality water on tap whenever we want it. Good investment if you drink a lot of it (which it must be said, I don't). That said, my Mam was fed the whole flouride in the tap water story to get it fitted but I have to say the tap tastes like metal in comparison. Only problem is the filter removes a lot of the good stuff as well as bad I'd say.

I have to say im probably far to ignorant to whats in tap water but i do remember a study a few years ago that tested bottled waters against tap water in ireland and they said that tap water was better in general. I dont have any source but maybe some of you will remember it .

How reliable would you say those labels are. At least with tap water, when its sampled you're going to get a fairly representative idea of its chemical composition. With bottled water theres going to be huge variation between bottles. Id take my chances with chlorine and fluorine anyday over the chemicals used in the manufacture of plastics.

This stupid conversation happened before :pac: :

Hippy Liberial: "Hey maaaaaaaaan, I see you drinking from that Coke bottle............don't you know how evil Coca-Cola are?.................blah blah...............*random statistic*................orphan children in Columbia................evil capitialist businessmen burning dollar bills to light their cigars................blah blah...................fight the system......."

*pulls out bottle of Deep Riverrock and drinks from it*

Me: "Are you fùckin' kidding me?................."

I'm not fussy when it comes to water, especially bottled water but I'd be quicker to buy the very cheap brand like Dunnes Stores bottles rather than Ballygowan...........dunno why, don't really care.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,178 ✭✭✭✭NothingMan

I buy Ballygowan, but only because I like the bottle which I use repeatedly until I eventually lose it and buy another one.

Whatever is cheapest. Water is water.

And let's not forget about the companies that bottled tap water.

Not forgetting CocaCola who couldn't even do that right , which is why here it's sold as Deep River Rock instead of Desani

I live in Galway so I'd never take a chance with the tap water.

    Vittel for me.

Evian for me by a mile.

Most every single company with labels has blue for still and green for sparkling

Tipperary Water is the only one company I know who does it the other way around.
Maybe just trying to be different?
