Quick one guys, anyone know of any good sites where you can sell whiskey online?

I have a few bottles that I am probably never going to get around to drinking that I am thinking of selling. I think ebay has a rule against selling alcohol their site though so would like to know if anyone knows of any other good sites.

    Selling on ebay is grand.

Could always give them away as presents and save hassle too.

www.whiskyauction.com would be the best one. Generally, you'd get higher prices than ebay, depending on what you're selling, but there's also larger fees.

You also have to post the whisky to Rendsburg before the auction.

There are also auction houses like www.mctears.co.uk and Bonhams that specialise in whisky sales.

What are you thinking of selling?

There are rules involved in selling whiskey on ebay. Technically, you are selling the container as a collectible, and not the alcohol. And technically it's not supposed to be still for sale in retail outlets. If you list it for sale in Europe, it will be pulled, most likely. If you have an ebay.co.uk account, you could list for sale as a collectible in the UK.

Cheers guys, I did not know about those websites Brockagh. Have you used them before?

I have a bottle of Famous Grouse 1989 Vintage Malt Whisky, an 18 and a 21 year old Glenfiddich and a bottle of Middleton Very Rare 2007.

I am still undecided now whether to part with them or not but I think I will eventually.

I've used whiskyauction. Posting bottles from Ireland is very expensive, though, and they're not guaranteed to arrive... Most of the time they do, however.

And you can't insure glass in the post...

If you're in a hurry, however, I'd go with ebay, because the whiskyauction.com one runs for about a month or more.

Don't wish to be the bearer of bad tidings, but the Famous Grouse won't net you anything, being a blended scotch.
Those Glenfiddichs are standard issues from the distiller, currently available from the distiller at £75 and £38 each.
The Midleton VR is the closest to a collectible you have there. But it's only a few years old. We're talking €150 max to be honest.
If I were you, I'd drink them.

The Famous Grouse looks like a Vatted Malt

OP's best bet is to sign up to a WHisk(e)y enthusiasts forum and try and sell them to other members. You are not going to make a big money and if you bought them yourself at retail prices you will probably make a loss on them. No one is going to give you full retail price for an item they can get in a good offlicence for the same price and the security of a recipt.

Wholesale? The Celtic whiskey shop, drink store or maybe a few craft pubs

There's a new online whisky auction website in Scotland

    www.scotchwhiskyauctions.com

There's a few more too, but very new and couldn't vouch for them yet.

    Hi guys and gals!

Have some Irish whiskey (rare and regular, but all premium) that I'd like to sell but not sure where to do so. I'd prefer to do so locally (as in Ireland) to avoid shipping costs and risk of breakage etc.

Any ideas in addition to the above obviously!

Tried adverts etc but alcohol sales are forbidden there - any help appreciated!

The Celtic Whiskey Shop would probably buy.

There are rules against selling alcohol on buy and sell and adverts.ie etc, I think.

If you want to sell on the UK auction sites, you can get their courier to collect. It would cost about £35 for up to about 15 bottles. You then pay 5% or 10% in auction fees, plus VAT. And there is a listing charge of about £3.
