    Cold, and snowy.

Was there for new years last year, arrived 27th/28th to no snow. Woke up the next morning to about a foot and a half. Didn't stop snowing before we left around the 5th/6th Jan. Granted they are far more efficiant at clearing paths/roads, it's still icy cold.

Berlin is the best place ive ever been to. Mind you, that was during 30 degree heat.
All ill say is dont pass up any opportunity to visit Berlin. If the cold bothers you perhaps you're better off staying at home. If you're feeling a little adventurous, go for it!

Ryanair fly to Schonefeld. From the central station to there, its roughly 40 minutes on the S-Bahn with one switch.

Definatly worth it!! Just go prepared, and knowing that it will be cold, and slippy!

So much to do and see there regardless of the weather though!

I got back from Berlin yesterday.

I'd been there before, albeit in summer. Awesome city, fantastic people, incredible history, lovely beer and food. The xmas markets are pretty cool too. But, it was cold, very very cold. It was -8c during the day on two of the days. It snowed heavily one day. That particular cold snap seems colder than usual, so I was told, but be sure to pack warm clothes and pile on the layers.

It's a city best appreciated on foot if you're into seeing the sites and taking some of the walking tours (highly recommended), so bare in mind you might spend a lot of time outdoors.

Anyway, if you don't mind the cold and snow, go for it. Just bare in mind that it might get really really cold if the weather turns.

Honestly though, while I had a much better time in the summer, I'd never turn a chance down to spend a few days in Berlin.

The one great thing about Berlin in January is that you can be reasonably sure that it will still be dark when you're coming home from the club.
