As above,plumber/gas central heating engineer required to look at a 6 month old central heating system in the Dublin 9 area.

Gas was turned off at the outside meter meter box for a few hours last week,by Board Gais, due to a possible leak (now sorted),but the heating system is not as warm as it used to be since it was switched back on,also downstairs kitchen rad is stone cold and wont heat up,even after bleeding and also turning off ALL other rads in the house

Please give me a shout back or PM me.

    Thanks.:)

The Dublin boys must be up to their necks...

    From a country lad prospective...
Switching off Gas should not be an issue if your boiler started operating after it was reinstated..

Is your boiler switching on and off? Gas Boiler ok.
Is the water temperature in the boiler getting hot ( indicators on front panel)? Gas Boiler ok.
If your water from your taps/ cylinder getting hot nenough. Gas boiler ok
If water cold from taps then you have a circulation issue.
Dirt/ sludge in stystem or airlock in pipes to rads or motorised valves shut/ sticking.

If your house is zoned. separate thermostats and valves for up/down and hot water.
I guess you probably switched off the heating controls and the motorised valves probably shut down and one of them didin't open when switched on.

Find the motorised valves and manually open them ( small lever on side of motorised valve head).

I'm north dublin ,but I didn't think people were allowed ask for names on the forum. Things are crazy at the moment for most installers ,everyones heating seems to be giving trouble at the moment.

Your problem could be anything really ,because you've had work done on your gas supply ,you really should ask the last person back to inspect it.

Edit : I've four boilers to change this week ,I haven't got five minutes to myself.

    Thanks for the help.

My system is only 6 months old.Boiler is a Vokera boiler unit. The boiler is currently set at 72 degrees.
Yes,I have a zoned system, and can heat water or rads on their own or both together at the same time.Or I can heat only upstairs or downstairs

They system and the boiler was turned off for several hours, and I do have 2 motorized units up in the hot press where the cylinder is.

1 is marked "upstairs" and the other is marked "downstairs"

They both have a red light on them and both lights come on when the central heating system is turned on.

Maybe its sludge, and the fact that the system was turned off has made the problem more evident now?

But the house deffinately feels alot colder than it was before the system was shut off.

I am finding it impossible to find a plumber to service my gas boiler and to look at my radiators (one is leaking) and generally make sure my heating is working. I keep having to fill the water up and this can't be right. I'm in Dublin 8.

Bord Gais told me two months ago that an engineer to service couldn't come until January. I would prefer someone who would look at the whole system and not just the boiler.

Several people personally recommended have not turned up. I am not looking for any favours simply want somebody who will do a good job. I think the reason the system is a bit dodgy is because of low quality work previously and therefore didn't want to pick a person just from the Bord Gais website.

I gave up then on personal recommendations and called three different plumbers from the website. One told me he wasn't insured (even though he's on the website). The others simply didn't turn up (after me waiting in on many occasions).

I am getting really frustrated. Can anyone give me a personal recommendation?
