Christmas RTE guide

Anyone know when its out?
I thought it'd be out already as I remember it usually came out the monday or tuesday after the late late toy show.

Cant wait to go thru the yearly routine of marking out what i want to see over the coming weeks (but will more than likely miss :rolleyes:)

I think its this weeks one . . .not sure which day they normally come out but its usually round the 8th december, which is wednesday . .

The last few years I've gotten the free ones from the weekend papers, but I've gotten sick of TBDs all over the place, so I'm going to plumb for a proper one this year with staples and everything.

i thought it was too...but i looked and its far too thin to be the beloved christmas issue....i never ever buy it...only once a year will i ever buy an rte guide....just a christmas tradition:D

i got mine in easons oconnoll street today! loads of them!!!!!!! has miriam ocallaghan, jedward and pat shortt on the cover, reading it now as we speak.

IT WAS €3.50!! :rolleyes:

personally i would recommended the TV now Christmas issue out on Wednesday thats only €2!

Same as that. It's the only time of the year when i get the Guide. Used to have a collection of Guides from late 70's early 80's. Twas deadly looking back at how much the schedules changed over the years. I vaguely remember from them that RTE2 didn't start till the afternoon even during christmas in '78!!:eek:

Lost them all since, when auld mr and mrs dodger gutted the old homestead for a well overude revamp a few years ago

We got 130 of these into our local centra last night, (a small shop) and they sold about 10 while I was there. RTE guide Xmas special is still an institution in this country I see :P

Picked it up today for €3.40!

I had a quick glance and think it only goes up to New Year's Eve. I thought I remember that it went further in the past?

That's because Christmas Day is on a Saturday this year.

Depending on when Christmas falls, the double issue could cover any fortnight between
17th Dec to 30th Dec
and
23rd Dec to 5th Jan.

Got mine today! I was in the local post office where it was incredibly busy and I had just queued for 10 minutes to be served. Did my business and then turned around and saw the Christmas RTE Guide...so I retuned to the back of the queue and started all over again!! The countdown to Christmas in my house doesn't start until we have the RTE Guide!!

Wow didn't realise it was such a tradition with everyone else like it is in our house!! Will be getting mine this weekend!

Also in relation to the guide not having the listings for beyond New Years Day - that's a way of making money by the RTE guide - before they used to have it up to the 6th January but they'd also have a Jan issue out if people wanted to buy that (but nobody did cos all they wanted was the Christmas listings!) so now they've gotten smart and instead are putting the rest of the listings in the January issue so if you want to know what's on you have to buy another guide!! CHEEKY! I don't buy it anyway....just look at Sky Menu:D

Yeah I thought that emanresu was talking crap alright. We've been getting the Christmas RTE guide for years and I'm sure they always covered New Years Day (at least) no matter what day it fell on.

it always did cover the two weeks - it ruins it now that it is split and you have to run out and buy another one. also the one week issue is double the price.
im waiting for the rag mags to do the free ones - that will do me this year - i hate greed.

The only day you are missing is New Years Day you hardly have to run out and get a new issue, and the Christmas issue is double the price as its an double issue, that's hardly greed its only fair.

Just got my RTE guide last week and noticed today as I was going through it that the pages stop at page 34 then jumps to 67 and goes to 98 and then repeats 67 - 98!!!

I got no 34 - 67.

CHECK YOUR GUIDES.:(
