    Hi,

l am looking at purchasing a 32" LCD tv primarily to watch the Irish DTT. I see Powercity are having on-line offers at the moment and they have a Walker set with 720p HD and an LG set with 1080p HD, would there be any noticeable difference clarity wise between these two and secondly why do you think Powercity are discounting at the moment, I know in the current economic climate they are trying to generate sales but would I be right in thinking they are trying to shift old stock to make way for perhaps the arrival of newer technology in the new year?

Are the Irish DTT channels and the U.K. channels obtained from the same Satellite feed or have you a separate line in for both to the TV?

An aerial is required for Saorview and a satellite dish for Freesat. That's an Excellent TV.

It has a built in Freesat HD tuner - with the Freesat menu (there is no tuning involved (ever). This is what you connect your satellite cable from your dish to.

It has a built in DVB-T tuner for DTT. To which you connect your TV aerial.

So 2 cables coming in. One satellite cable from dish. One aerial cable for dtt. All the inputs are built into the back of the TV.

To switch between the satellite and DTT is a one button move on the one remote.

    Make sense ?

I purchased the W5810 (100 Hz version) from Peats last summer for €519. Great TV.

Search for "5810" here in the terrestrial forum for previous discussions of the range.

This might confuse you (the guy does talk some nonsense but will give you an idea of the capabilities)

@Deedsie: Yes. Its 549. Pretty good for a Freesat HD TV and DVB-T MPEG4 all in one.

    Its a good deal.

+1 on that TV. I bought one several months ago. Freesat is excellent (use UK postcode in initial setup) and it's easy to move the DTT channels from 800's to 1, 2, 3 or whatever. Works pretty well connected to a home media player via ethernet also.

Is it two separate epg's for DTT and Freesat, or can you combine them in one epg ?

Separate EPGs. It's a trivial one button press to switch between DTT and satellite, though.

I'm very tempted by the 5810, surely it is a better*tv for the same*money as buying an LCD (say Samsung L32C450) and combo box for the same price?

The only question I would ask is will the EPG's require or be able to receive updates?* I am hoping to move away from messing with a Linux based freesat box which I can't find or create a suitable flash for just the channels I want (I don't need 15 variants of ITV1!)
Will the EPG's and tuners on this be useful for at least the medium term?

I will probably buy combo boxes for 2 other tv's in the house which won't have MPEG4 or freesat tuners.

    Thanks for any advice...
