Slow o2 broadband for the last week in Dublin

    Hi there,

Usually o2 is fine for me in Dundrum, Dublin but recently it's become awful to the point of useless. The d/l speed is non-existent and yet my u/l speed is excellent.

The o2 broadband window says that it's on HSPA and 70% signal.

I'm going to bring it to work tomorrow in Ranelagh and see if that's any faster...

    In the meantime, any ideas?

    Thanks!

Problems across the entire country. Not just Dublin.

Well it's nice to know that it's not just me. Do you reckon it's likely to pick up again or is this going to be it from now on?

I will be getting UPC if this is the new norm.

If you can get UPC (and you don't have to subscribe to the TV)
If you can afford UPC basic package
    If you don't need Mobility

Why are you using Mobile Dialup instead of Proper Real Broadband?

    Probably a backhaul issue.

I'm on the student package which is really cheap on O2 (something like €10/ month). It was very handy while taking trains, going around the country etc. but I don't find myself doing that much anymore. Since it's so cheap, I would prefer to stay with it while we're still eligible but not the way it's been behaving recently. We've got TV and phone with UPC so it seems reasonable to consider changing to them if O2 doesn't recover. Obviously if it comes to that I'll check if there are better deals.

No improvement today. I forgot to bring it to work - I'll report back tomorrow!
