4 weeks in Thailand & Bali?

    Hi,

Myself and a friend are thinking of planning our own route for 4 weeks next September through Thailand and Bali and are looking for a bit of guidance. We're looking to base our holiday around scuba diving, surfing and partying/chilling out and are going to book in January.

I've thrown down a rough guide below based on 3 separate routes over the period of a month.

    Route 1 - Thailand & Bali

    September 1st-7th

    - Fly from Dublin to Phuket (via Bangkok).
    - From Phuket, travel to one of the islands that's good for scuba diving. I've heard Krabi is the best.
    - Spend a week scuba diving.

    September 8th-14th

    - travel to Phi Phi for roughly 4 days.
    - From Phi Phi, travel over to Ko Phangan for 3 days to the Full moon or half moon.

    September 15th-30th

    - Fly down to Bali (maybe from Ko Samui or Phuket?).
    - Scuba dive for a week on one of the islands.
    - Surf for the last week.
    - Fly home from Bali.

    Route 2 - Thailand

    - Route 2 would be the exact same as route 1 except we would stay in Thailand the entire time and not travel to Bali. We would take this route if Thailand is good for surfing, although I'm pretty sure it's not and also if Bali drastically increased the overall cost of the trip.

    Route 3 - Australia

    - This is completely different and probably will be too expensive but we thought we'd put it in anyway.
    - Spend 4 weeks in Australia scuba diving and surfing.

Is it possible to book both our accommodation and scuba diving/surfing through someone like Usit or should we take care of that ourselves? I was in Thailand 2 years ago and I only booked my flights before I left and then booked as I travelled. I don't mind doing this although I think it might be better to pre book where we will be staying as we will be scuba diving and surfing.

By adding in Bali as a destination, do you think it would drastically increase the overall cost of the trip? Would we be better off just sticking to Thailand and if there is no surfing in Thailand we could substitute it for a different water sport? Does anyone know of any other popular water sports which we could do for a week in Thailand instead of surfing? ie Windsurfing etc.

What route would be the best to take?
