Meausuring Wifi network speed?

    ive just got a netgear 3700 dual band wifi router

    i have no 5ghz wifi n laptop yet to test it on that frequency

    however

    i am testing it out on the 2.4ghz wifi "N" band

    the netbook says its connecting at 130Mbps

    i have hooked up a usb hard drive to the router and transferring a 700mb file from it to my netbook is coming in at about 6.5mb/sec

    basically im trying to figure out if this is an acceptable rate, and if there is any other way for me to accurately measure the wifi actual throughput
