RTE's Premiership Soccer not blacked out in N. Ireland!

When I turned on RTE2 after the rugby on TG4 I was pleasantly surprised to see that 'Premier Soccer Saturday' was not blacked out for Sky Digital viewers here in NI. Usually the caption appears 'this programme is not available' but not tonight. I wonder why? Has someone forgot to push a button or have either RTE or Sky rethought the rights issues. IIRC there have been one or two occasions when Heineken Cup rugby highlights on RTE have been 'in the clear' but then the next weekend they have been blacked out. I know the Magners League rugby live coverage was blacked out for the first weekend but then after some complaints and e mails to RTE it has been 'in the clear' since.

I am nearly sure that RTÉ encrypts their own (and TV3 and TG4) channels on satellite

Out of interest what is encrypted on TV3 (it's not available on Sky in NI)?

Everything. You may be able to clear it with an NI card - tune it in on "Other Channels" and see does it clear for you.

Aye, the encoding and uplinking is done in Donnybrook.

Thanks for tip - did not know you could add TV3. Unfortunately even the TV3 news update is blacked out!

TV3 is completely blocked in Northern Ireland. You are not missing much anyway.

I can get it on analogue via an aerial and watch it very little - many programmes seem to be material that is already on UTV.

Saturday night's European cup rugby was 'in the clear' here in NI via Sky Digital.
